I was approached to design the UI for a game focused on building floating airships with a light post-apocalyptic steampunk aesthetic. The UI elements needed to be built on modular windows, allowing for visibility rather than full-screen windows, which would obscure the player’s view.

This project was a fun exploration where I not only had an opportunity to design beautiful UI, but also to learn about the background processes of UI development.

 
 

It was necessary to develop a flowchart to determine functionality, pathing, and to get an understanding of all the windows that would be necessary.

 

Given the complexity of the project and the need for a variety of windows, it was necessary to determine a set of common elements and to explore the user experience.

 

With all of the preliminary work out of the way, the path was cleared for developing high-fidelity mockups.
